I go hiking almost everyday at Pearson-Arastradero preserve, and I see wild brush-rabbits quite often. 98% of the time, at sunset, you will encounter them. I most often see them at the beginning
or at the end of the trail, though you can find them everywhere. Brush Rabbits can live for three or more years. When I started hiking, I thought that rabbits did not exist in the wild. Then, I was fascinated by how big the Black-Tailed Jackrabbits can grow. Seeing rabbits is always special, and I would encourage you to go hiking to discover them. On the other hand, Black-Tailed Jackrabbits emerge earlier in the day and will return to their dens earlier. If you want to see them, I would recommend hiking earlier in the day. I see them around 20-30% of the time. Unlike the brush rabbits, I never know where to look for the Black-Tailed jack rabbits because I see them everywhere around and in the preserve. Rabbits are widespread and will run away if you get too close, so it's best to keep your distance. I love rabbits, and I hope I can share my passion for them with you.
